30 tonnes of donated pet food for 36 area animal rescues starting Monday

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin-area animal rescue facilities are receiving donations of more than 30 tonnes of animal feed starting Monday.

Tomlinson’s Feed is in charge of the massive business of providing over 60,000 pounds of food to 36 pet shelters in central Texas. It is the largest pet food drive in town and is fueled by donations from customers, as well as matching donations from pet food manufacturers and Tomlinson.

Two semi-trucks of animal feed will be distributed starting at 10 a.m., and for shelters like Thundering Paws, this is the lifeline they need.

“Tomlinson’s Pound4Pound program has fed our sanctuary cats, our foster cats and hundreds and hundreds of cats in the community,” said Anne Zabolio, Executive Director of Thundering Paws. “Cats from Hays, Blanco, Travis and Williamson counties would thank [Tomlinson’s] so much if they could.

Distribution begins at 10 a.m. at the Tomlinson warehouse located at 845 Interchange Blvd. in eastern Austin.
