Animal Welfare Association to Host Pet Adoption Event for Vets
Pets for Vets waives adoption fees for residents of Camden County who are serving military, reservists or veterans

Voorhees, NJ – Animal Welfare Association (AWA) will be hosting a Pets for Vets tent event at their shelter in Voorhees from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25. Proudly supported by Camden County Commissioners, Pets for Vets aims to share the joy of the human-animal bond between veterans and shelter pets.

“Pet ownership can provide invaluable companionship to veterans,” says Maya Richmond, Executive Director of the AWA. “Pets not only help us stay active and socialize, but they also make us feel protected and loved. “

Pets for Vets is a small thank you to the Camden County Veterans who have selflessly served our country and will provide the men and women in uniform with companions of the refuge who will provide unconditional love to the most precious members of our society.

The program is open to all serving military personnel, reservists or veterans who reside in Camden County. Residents and pets that meet the program’s criteria will have their adoption fees waived. Participants must present proof of residence and valid military ID and dogs must be over two years of age and / or over 40 pounds. Veterans without ID can visit the Veterans Office located on Collier Drive in the Lakeland Complex in Gloucester Township.
