The RSPCA hopes to raise $65,000 to help care for animals that enter its shelters. The RSPCA, or Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is a non-profit organization that cares for and protects animals, while advocating for an end to cruelty to all animals. With 157 animals available for adoption and 395 shelter animals currently in veterinary care at the time of writing, they provide emergency first aid to abandoned animals, as well as a repatriation service.

Did you know ? Over 90% of RSPCA funding comes from the generous support of the Victorian community. RSPCA Victoria cares for around 14,000 animals a year that have been lost, abandoned or seized. Their Inspectorate, a nonprofit arm that investigates cases of animal cruelty, costs nearly $5 million a year to operate.

While you never really need an excuse to throw a party or bake cupcakes, do it for a good cause in August. It can take place at your home, school or work and at a time that suits you throughout the month. So what are you waiting for to cook?
