Coldwell Banker Hosts Fundraiser for Area Animal Rescues | New

DuBOIS — Coldwell Banker Developac Reality held its sixth annual pet event on Saturday, raising approximately $5,300 for area animal shelters.

The event, benefiting the Gateway Humane Society and Purrfect Paws Cat Rescue and held at the Treasure Lake office, featured a “trick or treat” contest, where pet owners were encouraged to bring their pets and give them a ride for a treat. Costumes were also optional for pets. There was also musical entertainment, local food and wine vendors, a basket raffle and artwork by local cartoonist Harlan Beagley.

It all started when Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC partnered with in 2015 for an annual “Homes for Dogs – National Pet Adoption Weekend” effort, according to a press release.

“In response to this national effort, hundreds of Coldwell Banker-affiliated and locally owned offices across the United States and Canada have held adoption events in conjunction with local animal shelters and rescue groups in their communities,” he says.

Each year, vans are also filled with donated supplies for the shelters. Adoptable pets were also on hand to meet potential “furever” families.

“Applications have been taken for several adoptable animals,” said Michele Wray, director of Coldwell Banker.

Two vans were filled with supplies this year, one for each rescue.

Five cats and dogs have won prizes from the online competition offered by Coldwell Banker through the end of September, a total of $900 in prizes, Wray said.

“A lot of people came in with their dogs in costume and got involved in the sleight of hand,” Wray said. “It was a fun day for the dogs and their owners.”
