COMMISSIONS FROM GENEROUS DONORS CUSTOM ART BENCH FOR CAPE CORAL ANIMAL SHELTER IN MEMORY OF HIS WIFE

The Cape Coral Animal Shelter has announced that a very generous donor has ordered and donated a custom designed bench to the CCAS in memory of his wife.

Sharon Bodenhafer has always been an animal lover and a supporter of rescue creatures. Since her passing, her husband Chuck has made it a mission to honor her memory by donating to local relief organizations including the Cape Coral Animal Shelter and Veterinary Clinic.

In the spring of 2020, Mr. Bodenhafer made a very generous donation to the Cape Coral Animal Shelter in honor of Sharon, purchasing a digital dental x-ray machine, x-ray equipment and various other items which greatly helped our low clinical cost veterinarian when it is open to the public.

“Chuck’s donation in Sharon’s memory couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Executive Director Liz McCauley. “Although we are inexpensive, we strive to have state-of-the-art equipment to provide the best care for our animals, and Chuck has helped us do just that. We are so grateful.

Recently, Mr. Bodenhafer teamed up with local artist Vicky Firestone to commission a custom bench featuring two of Sharon’s beloved pets, Scarface and LT-4. This whimsical addition to the adoption area is the perfect place for families to take photos with their new furry friends and allows the shelter to showcase adoptable puppies.

Saving animals was Sharon’s passion, and she saved many. Scarface was a beaten stray that Sharon and Chuck fed and sheltered until he felt safe and comfortable enough to enter. LT-4 (named after a Corvette Chuck used for racing) was also a rescue pup that quickly won the hearts of the Bodenhafers. They are forever commemorated in this unique way that is sure to put a smile on your face when you visit CCAS.

“We are so grateful to Chuck for his generosity and continued support of our mission,” said JoAnn Elardo, Founder and President of Cape Coral Animal Shelter. “We know Sharon would be very proud to have her memory kept alive while helping save animals.”
