KARACHI: Karachi Administrator and Sindh Government Spokesperson, Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Friday requested the management of Karachi Zoo and Safari Park to organize training for mahouts and zoo keepers to ensure better animal care in line with global standards.
The administrator gave these instructions during a visit to the zoo here.
KMC City Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi, Senior Director of Recreation Mansoor Qazi and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Under the guidance of the Karachi Administrator, Senior Recreation Manager Mansoor Qazi contacted the experts from the National Zoological Garden of Sri Lanka Elephant Orphanage via email and the experts agreed to come to Karachi and dispense training for mahouts and zookeepers.
An application has been sent to the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Karachi for departmental approval in this regard and it is expected that Sri Lankan medical specialists will soon be available for training at Karachi Zoo.
Explaining the details, Senior Recreation Manager Mansoor Qazi said that in the said training scheme, mahouts and zoo staff in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar will also be invited to undergo training so that they can also benefit from this animal care training program.
