Kind donation restores stables at Holmeswood Animal Sanctuary

FEEDING TIME: Animals in the care of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary

Thanks to a donation of building materials, Woodlands Animal Sanctuary was able to restore its stables.

The small charity based in the village of Holmeswood received the donation from home improvement retailer Wickes, Southport.

Run by a dedicated team, plus a group of volunteers, the sanctuary cares for sick, unwanted and neglected animals, including farm animals such as goats, donkeys and chickens. They also specialize in the repatriation of cats and guinea pigs and the rehabilitation of hedgehogs.

Now that they’ve repaired the stables, they’re looking to turn one into an educational unit for local schools and groups.

Matt Jordon, Woodlands Caretaker, said: “This is the first time we’ve received building materials and it couldn’t have come at a better time as it means we can spend more money on food and in animal medicines.

Wickes Southport store manager Jennie Roberts said: “When I heard about the great work they are doing at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary, I contacted them to see if we could help them with some equipment to help to maintenance. We would love to help more charities and community organizations through our community program. We can supply relevant products to help with essential maintenance, renovation or projects entirely new.”

The community program is open to all local community groups and charities. For more information visit the site here
