The kids in their pajamas plan to greet newborn baby lambs, goats, calves and other animals (also wearing pajamas) at the ShineOnCass Animal Baby Shower and Pajama Party scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at the Hart-to -Hart Farm & Education Center, 16 Duck Pond Lane in Albion. Two sessions will be offered, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a capacity limited to 80 children per session.
The annual event features educational stations that include learning to milk a cow, retrieving eggs from the chicken coop, spinning lamb’s wool, and participating in goat yoga. Children will be able to hold and have their picture taken with the newborn baby animals.
The Education Center is a family owned and operated organic dairy farm that offers a variety of educational programs for children, adults and families. The ShineOnCass Animal Baby Shower is held annually in honor of Cassidy Charette, an Oakland teenager who died in a hayride accident in 2014 and was a longtime summer camper at Hart-to-Hart Farm .
Families attending the free event are encouraged to bring pet food and items to donate to the Humane Society Waterville Area in memory of Cassidy, who was also a longtime shelter volunteer.
