Volunteer and contribute to animal welfare statewide

Help is needed at the RSPCA Victoria operations stores and the charity is calling on additional volunteers. Volunteer positions are available to everyone in Victoria, whether they are students looking for valuable retail experience before starting their career; senior residents looking for an opportunity to engage in their community; RSPCA supporters who wish to join a community activity group.

RSPCA Victoria’s op shops are supported by teams of dedicated volunteers, with all funds raised from the shops supporting the organization’s important work to end cruelty to animals. The organization depends on volunteers for the day-to-day operations of operations stores across the state.

“After a difficult few years, we are looking to expand our team of op shop volunteers across the state and are looking for people who are passionate about helping animals in need by generating desperately needed revenue for the organisation,” said RSPCA Victoria. Retail and eCommerce Manager, Stephanie Neil.

There are a range of opportunities at RSPCA operating stores, with training provided for key retail tasks including customer service, sorting goods and merchandising. Volunteers are asked to commit to regular four-hour shifts whenever possible, but occasional volunteering is also appreciated.

The RSPCA recognizes that volunteering is not for everyone and notes that there are other ways to support Operations Stores, including buying from their hoard of unique goods and bargains, or donating high quality items for sale.

RSPCA Victoria Operations Shop volunteers often join in the companionship and social connections that the job provides.

“Our volunteers tell us they’ve made friends with people they wouldn’t have met otherwise.

“Everyone involved wants to help help animals in need and that’s a great reason to leave home every day,” Ms Neil said.
