The White House made the announcement as 6,600 cases were discovered in the United States

This means the government can use more federal funds and resources to help fight the virus.

The new deputy White House Monkeypox coordinator says they are working to speed up vaccine production and distribution.

This public health emergency would allow the FDA to explore the number of injections needed to protect themselves.
